Welcome to the Bellefonte Swim
Team home page. During the summer, the Bellefonte
Y team practices and competes home meets in the Kepler Pool at Governor's
Park in Bellefonte.
We break down our year into a Summer season, normally running from mid-May through the end of July and the Fall/Winter season running from the end of October through the end of March. Some people compete during one season or the other, but most compete all year round to ensure staying in shape and having fun! We have kids from all over Centre County on our team including the State College, Bellefonte, Bald Eagle and Penns Valley areas.
Through the swim team you can compete in local, regional, state, and even national meets. We also participate in USA Swimming events, such as the Junior Olympics. We also encourage participation in the Keystone State Games and Invitational meets hosted by teams around the state. We place a big emphasis on building team spirit and camaraderie. We try to push and encourage the kids to work hard and progress each week of the season, but as long as they try hard and have fun, we consider it a success! We had a great winter season(06-07),
undefeated in the CPYSL league. There were three age groups that were league champions: 8 and under boys, 10 and under boys, and 10 and under girls.
Two other age groups were second in the league: 12 & under girls
and 12 & under boys. We achieved most of our team goals, sending many
swimmers to YMCA Districts and to the YMCA State Championships,
which we co-host with the State College YMCA Swimming Team. We also sent a girls' relay to Nationals this year! |
